Final Papau New Guinea Blog
The main natural disasters of Papau New Guinea, are Earthuakes, volcanic erupons. landslides, droughts. In fact Papau New Guinea, ranks among the top 6 countries for highest percentage of population exposed to Earthquakes hazards. I think Papau New Guinea should focus most on the issues of Earthquakes. An I also believe Papau New Guinea should focus on the issue of droughts. The reason I say this.
Is because in terms of natural disasters I think the most severe to the people of Papau New Guinea. Are like droughts, and Earthquakes. Like for example as recently from 2015-2016 Papau New Guinea suffered droughts, which affected 40 percent of the population. Which left nearly a half of million of people in Papau New Guinea with food shortages. The severe drought led to the deah of a lot of crops, and livestock. An required a lot of international aid. I also wrote Papau New Guinea should focus on Earthquakes.
It is because, like as of recently 2018, Earthuake in Papau New Guinea, killed 160 people, affeected 544,000 people, with 270,000 people in need of immeiate humanitarian assistance, including 125,000 children.
Reccomendations I have for Papau New Guinea to combat Earthquake hazards is
to put seismographs everywhere in Papau New Guinea to track the Earthquake frequencies from the ring of fire and the Australia and Eurasian plate colliding with each other. An to make the buildings people live in or are in to be built and have shock absorbers pendulums so they can resist Earthquakes. I would also reccomend PNG once they build seismographs across the country whenever their seismograph detects a major earthquake about to happen I reccomend Papau New Guinea to have goverment officials evacuate their citizens nearby villages or cities to higher ground
Reccomendations I have for Papau New Guinea to combat droughts is to practice drip irrigation, crop engineering, recycling organic waste, plant more trees even though Papau New Guinea has so much trees, and to have food storages and water storages so people can have extra water or food supplies when theirs droughts
Enga, Hela and Western Highlands were the hardest hit areas both in Earthquakes and droughts. So the reccomendations I have for Papau New Guinea to combat drought, and Earthquakes I will apply them most in those particular areas of Papau New Guinea. Like in the Enga Hela Western Hughlqnd I would recommend those areas have houses that have shock absorbers, pendulums, bunkers so the people are more safe from Earthquakes. But, I also reccomend having the people in those areas houses to have can food and dry food and a wells to collect rain water in each house. To combat drought and a filter system which they can ask hopefully wealthier countries to give.
